Nowadays, health food stores display more products than you
can shake a whole wheat breadstick at. And the labels you’ve got to read if you’re going to make the right choices can be as cryptic as the Rosetta Stone.
So we’ll make this as brief as possible. Here, one ingredient at a time, is what’s in it for you in our family of Chi (in Chinese that’s “vital energy”) products.
- INGREDIENT NO. 1: GINSENG -
An herb that’s been used continuously for 7,000 years has to have something going for it besides a musical name. Ginseng does. Hundreds of modern studies — some inevitably conflicting, of course — have shown it to have more benefits than we could fit in this leaflet without your falling asleep. But, for example: ginseng has been shown to improve performance, reduce the effects of stress, boost energy, and stimulate the immune system. Studies in China demonstrated that its ginsenosides increased neurotransmitter activity, enhancing memory and other cognitive skills. Even half those effects (and there are many many more) would make ginseng worth taking..
- INGREDIENT NO. 2: ELEUTHERO - This herbal cousin known as Siberian Ginseng is as old as the China hills. Since long before the birth of Christ it’s been used as a tonic for stimulating Chi, which (repeat translation)is “vital energy.” Chinese physicians, both ancient and modern, have used it to normalize body functions, restore vigor, increase energy and stamina, and help the body resist viral infections and environmental toxins.
- INGREDIENT NO. 3: GREEN TEA - Nowadays, green tea is as ubiquitous as double cheese-burgers,
the difference being that green tea is good for you. It’s
hardly necessary to list this super anti-oxidant's benefits, but we’ll
remind you of a few: raising good cholesterol levels (HDL)
while lowering bad (LDL); preventing blood clots, strokes,
angina, and heart attacks; optimizing our immune systems by
helping to destroy harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
Less known is green tea, Obesity Fighter. A study reported in
the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found it strongly
boosted fat oxidation and the thermogenesis (the body’s calorie-
burning rate) that helps to melt pounds you’re happy to
say goodbye to. Unlike our other CHI-TEA Green Tea product
created for people who choose to shun caffeine, ENERCHI
isn’t decaffeinated. But where caffeinated coffee kickstarts,
surging into the blood stream like sugar, the 60 mg of
caffeine in ENER-CHI, surrounded by tannic acid compounds,
stimulates gently and pleasantly without adverse
effects on blood pressure and the heart.
Author-nutritionist Dr. John Perricone made the distinction
authoritatively to Oprah Winfrey on her show when he said,
“Coffee has organic acids that raise your blood sugar, raise
insulin. Insulin puts a lock on body fat . When you switch to
Green Tea, you’ll get your caffeine, but your insulin levels will
drop and your body fat will fall very rapidly. So ten pounds in
six weeks, I guarantee it.”
- INGREDIENT NO. 4: GINKGO BILOBA - Ginkgo Biloba extract, which comes from the oldest tree in the
world, is one of the most well-researched herbs in the world.
It works by increasing blood flow and oxygen to the brain, and
in the past 30 years, more than 300 studies have confirmed
its efficacy as an improver of reaction time and mental clarity.
Studies show that it may act as a nootropic agent or “smart
drug” in healthy young people. At the same time, as a powerful
anti-oxidant, it helps overpower the free radicals thought to
lead to premature aging and dementia. One study found it
effective in treating antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction
in both men and women. It may not work for everyone, but
it’s sure worth trying.
- INGREDIENT NO. 5. RIBOSE - Ribose doesn’t have many fan clubs. It does its work quietly.
But ribose is a simple sugar that occurs naturally in all living
cells and in one of the simplest molecules used by the body
to build and restore energy. It is very important for the production
of ATP, the major source of energy used by muscle
tissue for normal function. Ribose has been shown to
increase muscular levels, boost endurance, and promote
recovery. Plus, lest we forget, it increases energy.
- INGREDIENT NO. 6: B-VITAMINS - Vitamin B-1(thiamine) has been around so long that little
need be said. It is vital to the normal functioning of almost
every body system — so much so that one could almost say,
you can’t live without it. Certainly a little more in your tea won’t hurt.
- INGREDIENT NO. 7: TAURINE - Taurine is one of the most abundant free amino-acid-like compounds
found in the heart and nervous system. It acts as a
metabolic transmitter and detoxifier. But at times of physical
exertion, the body no longer produces needed amounts of
taurine. That’s when ENER-CHI rides to the rescue.
- INGREDIENT NO. 8: L-CARNITINE - What could be better in your teacup than an anti-oxidant that
has been shown in clinical studies to have a positive impact
on memory, mood, and cognitive ability while at the same
time it burns fat, increases energy, and improves resistance to
muscle fatigue?
- INGREDIENT NO. 9. GUARANA - Guarana contains guaranine, a substance with characteristics
like those of coffee. It’s a mild stimulant, which means that
it quickens perceptions, delays sleep, helps with endurance based
activities, and can help you recover from a hangover.
Like our other eight ENER-CHI ingredients, it’s handpicked to
energize you when energy is what you want and need.
- WHAT’S NOT IN IT -
